[Destiny] Destined to meet each other

When Jenny, second Daughter-in-law, told us her plan to study gardening in Europe, my wife and I were surprised because my Son was in honeymoon. But it was a solid decision that they had concluded at the time of marriage. So we had only to say okay. In July 2019, after she obtained the working holiday visa from the Irish government, Jenny left for Dublin as bravely as a warrior.

 

At first, everything went well as planned. Jenny was enrolled in a language school and a Dublin institute of gardening and landscaping. She went further to build up her own experiences and make money to study extra-hour living English. She started to work part time at Starbucks and later full time at LUSH cosmetic store. Actually, it was highly competitive to get such a good job in Dublin.

In the course of job interview, Jenny was eager to present herself with portfolio showing how she was earnest and fit for the job. In fact, the general manager of LUSH store promised her to give an opportunity to make a flower decoration for big events to be held at the retail shop. 

 

All of a sudden, the outbreak of coronavirus has changed everything since March 2020. Just before St. Patrick holidays, social distancing measures were taken in Dublin. So Jenny was forced to stay at home.

Surprisingly enough from the beginning, she was destined to meet her soulmate – Tallulah, an Irish student of nursing. Upon arrival at Dublin, Jenny rented a room at a suburban district of Dublin, where Tallulah was also a house mate.

Really, it was unforgettable that Jenny was invited to Tallulah's home at Cork, the second largest city in Ireland, during the Christmas holidays. Amidst the self-quarantine period, Jenny and Tallulah spent time together - exercising yoga, preparing for and eating delicious food, going on a picnic and chatting and laughing during English classes. 

Finally, Jenny came back to Seoul in safety on the first day of July, and completed the mandatory self-quarantine.

제니 (둘째자부의 애칭),

어디서 시작할까? 운명이 우리를 더블린 그집으로 인도한 것이 얼마나 다행이었는지 몰라.

제니는 사랑스럽고 배려심 많고 강한 사람이야 – YC (둘째의 이니셜)가 얼마나 행운아인지!

제니를 알게 되어 내 인생도 달라졌어. 더블린에서 우리가 함께 한 것이 정말로 즐거웠고, 우리 함께 시간을 보내면서 추억도 많이 쌓았지.

내가 가장 좋아했던 것은 같이 맛있는 음식을 만들어 먹는 것, 영어 공부하면서 한 시간 동안 웃고 떠드는 것이었어.

“우정이란 돈으로 측정할 수 없다. 왜냐하면 그것은 순수하지 못하니까. 우정은 오직 추억과 웃음과 평안과 사랑으로 가늠할 수 있을 뿐이다.” ♡

 

이것은 작별 카드가 아니라 “곧 서울에서 만나요” 하는 카드야!

난 제니가 떠나서 슬프지만 제니를 알게 되어서 얼마나 다행인지 몰라. 제니가 없으면 앞으로 뭘 해야 할지 모르겠어 – 아마도 매일 밤 매운 辛라면 먹으면서 눈물을 흘릴 것 같아.

한국의 문화(특히 음식)을 알려줘서 고마워 – 난 아마도 전생에 한국사람이 아니었나 생각해.

언젠가 서울을 방문하여 제니도 보고 제니 가족도 만날 생각에 정말로 마음이 들뜨게 돼.

제니의 용기와 너그럽고 친절한 마음씨를 생각하면 나는 언제나 힘이 생길거야. 벌써부터 보고 싶어. 베프 탈룰라
