[Prize] Award of Superb Academic Achievement

Prof. Whon-il Park received the honorable Award of Superb Academic Achievements by President Inwon Choue of Kyung Hee University (KHU) on December 29, 2016. 

His achievements in the past few years include:

- Publishing a book, Legal Issues arising out of Trans-Border Data Flow, Jipmoondang in October 2015, which was selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in June 2016 as one of the best academic publications in 2015.

- Participating in the self-assessment of EU adequacy with respect to the level of data protection of the Korean laws and regulations; 

- Contributing the English translation of data protection-related statutes, court rulings, administrative decisions and Personal Information Dispute resolutions to the Privacy Portal operated by KISA; and 

- Establishing and contributing contents of KoreanLII solely by himself as a member of Free Access to Law Movement.

In addition, he actively attended international conferences held at Busan, Hanoi and Auckland representing KHU and making a presentation on the Korean law and practices.  

   

Prof. Park was invited to the dinner hosted by President Choue at his official residence on KHU Seoul campus on December 29, 2016.

He sat at the head table with President Choue representing other professors and colleagues.

Prof. Park was one of 55 professors with great academic achievements in the areas of research, teaching and service.

President Choue gave him the award saying:

"During the year of 2016, you have shown superb achievements to Kyung Hee people. You have also contributed a lot in realizing the future vision of Kyung Hee which enhances the pivotal values of university, thus jumping into a futuristic university. Aspiring to make a world class university of its own, we give you this remarkable plate."

During the party, Prof. Park told the audience his award is really excessive in view his efforts and achievements, and proposed a toast suggesting Sa-I-Da*!

- Sa : 사랑합니다, 경희대학교를

- I : 이 마음과 정성을

- Da : 다하여!

* meaning "I love KHU with all my heart!"

After the dinner was over, President Choue was willing to pose for a camera with Prof. Park. Thank you, Mr. President!
